I won a Liebster Award!

The Liebster award has been around for a few year, its a way to get to know some new bloggers.  I have nominated a few blog and you can see who I have nominated at the bottom of the post and the questions I have asked them to answer.

Now, onto my answers and thank you Hot Foot Trini for nominating me for the Liebster award.  Here are my answers to your questions.

1.What was your longest travel journey abroad?

I spent six months in Africa in 2015 travelling from Cairo to Cape Town.  One of the hardest and most rewarding journeys.

2.What was your shortest travel journey abroad?

I just completed a short trip to the Central Pacific Islands of Nauru, Kiribati, Marshall Islands and Micronesia.  There is one flight in to these countries a week and one flight out.  It was a whirlwind.

3.Describe your worst stopover.

I had a weird experience at the Rome airport on my way to Africa.  They were remodelling and I was trying to connect to my flight.  Somehow I actually left the airport and had to go back through security and was panicked I might miss my flights.
4.Describe your best stopover.

Anywhere I have an airport lounge.  My credit card allows me to use airport lounges around the world and they do not have to be airline specific.  Its great for free wifi, showers, food, drinks.
5.How much was your cheapest flight ever?

I flew from London Gatwick Airport to Prague for 40 GBP for a long weekend.  My public transportation to/from Gatwick Airport was more expensive than my flight.
6.Describe your worst flight ever.

That would be any flight where I was sitting next to a child.  I once flew on Malaysia Airways from Auckland to KL on my way to India and the mother did not get up once.  Needless to say the child cried most of the flight.

7.Describe your best flight ever.

Any flight on Air New Zealand.  They just won  best airline of the year and their service is always spot on.

8.Who is your best layover buddy?

I need one!  I usually plan my layovers so that they are nice and short.  Otherwise I’ll try to organise a day tour that picks me up and drops me off.
9.Describe your best experience with immigration/border control in a foreign country.

Any country that will stamp my passport full instead of stamping on a new page.  I’ve taken to asking them to stamp on certain pages as I usually fill up passports before they expire.
10.Describe your worst experience with immigration/border control in a foreign country.

China – long, long lines, little signage or explanation and even though everything was fine on my visa I still got harassed.

11.How many flights have you missed?

I’m going to say one because I’m not counting times when I’ve flown from USA to NZ and I’ve missed the connecting flights due to delays and they just booked me on the next flights.
