As I said above, the Canon Digital Rebel really is an affordable camera that takes great photos.  You can shoot in RAW or JPEG if you want to edit your photos.  You can also just put it on automatic setting and snap away.

My favorite setting is the burst mode or action.  This allows you to press the button and it will take several frames per second to ensure you get the action shot.

This camera also takes great night shots.  It has a universal connection for a tripod so you can set it and shoot the night sky.

With 18MP this really is the best Canon camera under 300.

My close second place would be the GoPro Hero 7.  This camera takes some amazing photos and is made for action.  I love the fact that it is waterproof and shoot video!
