My first digital camera – Best digital camera under 300 and best DSLR under 300
My first digital camera was a Canon EOS Rebel – this link is to the updated version available now on Amazon.
I bought my first digital camera in 2004. Wow that was 15 years ago!
It was the first Canon EOS Digital Rebel. I loved that camera. Everyone else was buying Kodak and Sony point and shoot digital cameras that had 4 MP and my camera was just awesome.
I bought a huge interchangeable lens for it as well. When I took it took Japan that summer people actually moved out of my way so I could take photos at popular tourist spots. Can you imagine that happening today?
I just remember using the camera in automatic mode and it took the best photos. That camera cost me $1000 and last 10 years until I upgraded to the newer model.
The latest Canon EOS Rebel is under $300 and has all of the features you would need and is the best DSLR under 300. The kit comes with the lens which is 18-50mm – perfect for every day shooting.

2. Canon PowerShot Elph 190
This camera is the perfect accompaniment to a night out or someone who wants to take decent photos without the bulk of carrying a heavy camera. At 20 MP it packs a punch too.
This camera takes great photos and is one of the easiest point and shoot cameras I have used. I am honestly shocked at the quality of photos this camera takes.
I also love how quick it is to take the photo. Sometimes when you turn a camera on you have to wait for it to ‘wake up’ so you can take a photo. Not this camera.
Its perfect for nights out too as its small and compact.

My second favorite camera on the list is the GoPro. These cameras have come a long way in the last few years!
This camera has 12 MP and a screen on the back so you can see what you are taking a photo of on the screen. The previous versions did not have this feature.
It also shoots video which is a huge plus! Their app is amazing and you can send all of your photos to your phone in seconds. Plus the app lets you edit video. Another huge plus for them.
Its now waterproof without a case so if you are kayaking or snorkeling you can use it in the water.

9. Panasonic Lumix ZS50 $300 –
I’ve been really interested to see what Panasonic has been doing lately and I feel their cameras are some of the best out there right now. Equipped with a wide range imaging features, it clearly captures any subject, even low light.
I think that is the best feature about it – Even in low-light environments, you can capture more detail and less image noise with the new, larger pixel-size High Sensitivity MOS sensor and Venus Engine image processor. And enjoy stunning photos and videos.
